The last stretch is beach sand. Read this before you leave the border — it will make the arrival much easier.
Fuel up before the crossing
Fill up at the Total fuel Station at Manguzi on the South African side before you cross. There is a Sasol fuel station 2.7km after crossing the Kosi bay border. There is a Gulp station about 10.9 km from the Kosi Bay Border. There is no fuel station in Ponta Malongane.
Let your tyres down
Once you reach the sand, let your vehicle tyres down to 1.2 bar. Let down tyres on the caravan or the off-road trailer to 2 bar. A 4x4 is required.
Navigate to the main gate
GPS −26.765526, 32.893110. Look for Tierras del Mar main gate — not a separate Camp David entrance. Entry is through a controlled-access gate, then a sand road past the check-in kiosk.
